Peregrino found a strange stone and sent it to his uncle, Policarpo Toro, an amateur geologist. Peregrino was one of the few to survive the massacre on the island, and is now the source of much of the information left about Vicuna. His memories have been a primary source for historians, journalists, and other researchers. He lives in Nueva Imperial, Chile today.
