Hardly anyone is familiar with the rise and fall of la Isla Vicuna, a short-lived small island nation off the coast of southern Chile. In fact, most people have never heard of the island. There are reasons for its anonymity, and powerful ones at that. The survivors were few, and they simply never told their story. The Vicunan Revolution took place in December, 1941, a time when most of the world had it's attention turned elsewhere: the growing menace of World War II, and the freshly-bombed Pearl Harbor. And to this day, the government of Chile denies that the island was ever inhabited. How could it be nation with no inhabitants? Who would be its citizens? A web of deception surrounds the island.

But no lies can change history. The events of the Vicunan Revolution did occur. The Vicunan people did exist. Their actions were brave and heroic. This is their story.
