I design for the web at Brand New Box, a web design & development firm in San Diego and Lawrence, Kansas. Here are some project highlights. I've also got an ego page with some press listings.
I've worked with a ton of companies, brands, and institutions.
Working with the FRIENDS National Center for Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention, we developed an online version of the PFS: you can administer the survey live online, and your data is saved all in one place. This was really fun, and I've written about it in other places.
We designed IRIS for this research group at CPPR, and they spend a lot of time onboarding the tool. SO: we built the IRIS Implementation Guide; it's a step-by-step resource that introduces a community. It's a superpower for the Implementation team: delivering just the right onboarding content at the right time, and serving as a permanent repository of guidance and support. More information here on the BNB blog.
I also made these little gardening banners for each phase #shouldahiredanillustrator
IRIS is a tool designed to encourage warm handoffs among community partners, keeping providers updated along the way. Communities using IRIS can make referrals to each other directly, and coordinate and monitor those referrals to make sure no one drops the ball - and no familiy falls through the cracks.
We designed and built IRIS at Brand New Box, and we've been supporting it through its growth for three years so far.
Speculative design (with a real client) on a desk reservation system. I really loved this project, and wish we could have built it! In fact, I loved it so much I used the scenario as a project for my Interaction Design course I taugh at KU, so I could see what solutions my students came up with. But ultimately, the client found an off-the-shelf solution, which is a better use of their time and budget.
An identity project for friends Kevin and Bryan: their new company Octant8, an upscale creative consulting startup in New York.
UC San Diego was one of the first universities to move to a responsive web prescence. We helped! In addition to some campus-wide web templates, I designed a new facelift for the Admissions department that including a vibrant, grid-based responsive system.
